Preceptor Training through UMKC

You are invited to the Leadership skills for clinical preceptors live webinars.
These Live Zoom sessions are designed to create interest and facilitate nurse practitioners and physicians in primary care to accept the role of clinical preceptor for advanced practice nursing students. The presentations include the benefits of clinical preceptorship, including career development, continuing education, exposure to new technologies, and CEU recertification requirements. Other topics include role ambiguity, 5 steps of effective workplace coaching, strategies to grow closer to your students and difficult conversations.
 
Session 1: Preceptor Training: The Basics
     Tuesday, February 2nd, 2021
     3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Central Time
This session will cover the following learning goals:
  • Identify advantages to precepting
  • Identify common barriers
  • Strategy for barrier breakdown
  • Strategies to mitigate team, and structural barriers
Session 2: Preceptor Training: Dealing with Difficult Students
     Tuesday, February 16th, 2021
     3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Central Time
This session will cover the following learning goals:
  • Identify how the need to understand yourself plays a critical role in effective precepting
  • Identify how role ambiguity can be detrimental to the student-preceptor relationship
  • Identify the 5 steps of effective workplace coaching
  • Identify strategies to grow closer” to your student
  • Identify strategies to approach difficult conversations
